What are internet cookies?
Cookies are small text strings used to make the user experience more efficient, e.g. by ensuring secure computer authentication, session tracking and storing specific information about users accessing the server.
Some operations could not be performed without the use of cookies, which are therefore technically necessary in some cases.
The law provides that ‘technical’ cookies may be used even without consent; these include
- Cookies implanted in the user’s/contractor’s terminal directly by the owner of the individual website, if they are not used for any further purposes: this is the case with session cookies, authentication cookies, personalisation cookies (e.g. for choosing the navigation language), etc.
- Cookies used to statistically analyse access/visits to the website (so-called ‘analytics’ cookies), which only serve statistical purposes and collect information in aggregate form.
Instead, ‘profiling’ cookies are aimed at creating profiles of the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while surfing the web. Due to the particular invasiveness that such devices (‘profiling’ cookies) may have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian laws provide that users must be adequately informed about the use of such devices and thus express their valid consent to the processing of their personal data.
A further element to be considered concerns third-party cookies. This type of cookie integrates functionality developed by third parties within the pages of the website such as icons and preferences expressed in social networks for the purpose of sharing website content or for the use of third party software services (such as software to generate maps and other software offering additional services). These cookies are sent from third party domains and partner websites that offer their functionality between the pages of the website.
Finally, cookies are also distinguished on the basis of how long they remain on the user’s device in:
- session cookies, which are deleted immediately when the browser is closed;
- persistent cookies, which, unlike session cookies, remain in the browser for a set period of time. They are used, for example, to recognise the device connecting to the website by facilitating authentication operations for the user.
What cookies are used on this website?
This website does not use profiling cookies, but only technical cookies for the purposes of the proper functioning of the pages of this website, improving its security and conducting aggregate research and analysis to improve its content.
This website uses cookies to optimise user navigation. These technologies do not in any case allow the saving of data, user credentials or other information on the device, in order to maintain the security level of the website.
The cookies used on the website and their characteristics are explained in the tables below.
Necessary
Necessary cookies help make a website usable by enabling basic functions such as page navigation and access to secure areas of the website. The website cannot work properly without these cookies.
Statistics
Statistical cookies help website owners understand how visitors interact with the websites by collecting and transmitting information in an anonymous form.
How to disable cookies via browser configuration
Most Internet browsers are initially set to accept cookies automatically. This means that the user has the possibility, at any time, to set his/her browser to accept all cookies, only some, or to reject them, disabling their use by the websites. In addition, the user can normally set his/her browser preferences so that he is notified whenever a cookie is stored on his/her computer. Through the browser, it is possible to automatically or manually delete cookies or request that certain cookies not be installed. Another option is to change your browser settings so that you receive a warning each time a cookie is installed. For more information on these options, you can refer to the instructions in the relevant section of your browser help.

With regard to the possible transfer of data to non-EU countries, including countries that may not guarantee the same level of protection as provided for by the GDPR, the Data Controller would like to inform you that the processing will in any case take place in accordance with one of the methods permitted by the GDPR, such as your consent, the adoption of Standard Clauses approved by the European Commission, the selection of entities that are members of international programmes for the free movement of data or operating in countries considered safe by the European Commission.
The data will not be disseminated.
Rights of data subjects
Pursuant to Articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR, the data subject has the right to obtain from the Data Controller the rectification, the erasure (so-called right to be forgotten) of his/her personal data; the right to obtain the restriction of processing and the right to data portability; the right to object to the processing of personal data, including profiling; and finally, the right to file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority.
